AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Spanish School 17th century
Triptych of the Adoration
Oil on panel
Total height: 145 cm; Total width: 96 cm
Restorations.

In an old frame of molded oak. Our important Adoration Triptych is composed of a central panel that depicts the Adoration of the Shepherds, bearing Saint Thomas Aquinas and Saint Teresa. This painting, of fine execution, characteristic of the tradition of triptychs inherited from the primitives, features colors and a composition that reflect Italian and Spanish influences. The choice of a representation of the Adoration surrounded by Saint Thomas Aquinas and Saint Teresa is not accidental; it is a feature of the Counter-Reformation and was probably commissioned as part of a series of artworks. It is interesting to observe, through this painting, the permeability between the different European schools during the 16th and 17th centuries.
