This work arises from the collaboration between two young Cuban artists, Yamila Machado Velázquez and Karel B. The visual proposal, the concept, and the creative line come from Yamila’s artistic universe, while the painting execution has been carried out by Karel, an artist with extraordinary technical mastery and solid experience in hyperrealist painting, characterized by precision, detail, and the quality of finishes. The result is a work conceived and developed jointly, where Yamila’s creative vision and Karel’s technical skill merge, giving rise to a piece born from dialogue and collaboration between both artists.

This oil on canvas work presents a striking frontal portrait of the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, framed by a circular solar halo in yellow and orange tones that evokes a mystical aura. The composition stands out for its bold use of expressionist color, dividing the figure’s face into cobalt blue bands, turquoise shadows, and warm highlights in yellow and red that accentuate her characteristic features. Crowned with an elegant pink-toned floral headdress and surrounded by butterflies in flight, the canvas combines geometric and pop lighting with traditional symbolism, achieving an imposing, serene presence filled with spiritual vitality.
