Description from the seller
Portrait composed of flowers.
Fragments of individuals steeped in a poetry as timeless as it is fantastical, the works of Fabien Delaube plunge us into a contemplation in which one might wonder, between the two, who is gazing at whom? A complete artist. At once a specialized decorator (trained at the Opéra de Bordeaux and with the Compagnons du Devoir) and a painter, he first trains in audiovisual techniques, and more particularly in photography. Later, the artist pursues a rich and plural training in the visual arts. Skilled in mastering all pictorial crafts, from classical painting to trompe-l'œil, his personal art reveals itself in the execution of an original contemporary figurative painting, imbued with dreamlike qualities. Fabien Delaube nevertheless turns toward oil painting, to which he likes to apply a finish that completes the entirety of his works. Mysterious characters. The artist enjoys painting human bodily features, more or less discernible, and these call to mind forms inspired by African masks or other visages borrowed from the history of theatre or military. In trying to decipher the “scars” of color and material with which their faces are partially or entirely covered, one could almost uncover their story.
