Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Elegant Indonesian Balinese Art Deco wood carving depicting a Legong Keraton dancer in a stylised, dynamic pose; hand‑carved from solid sono wood (rosewood) with intricate frangipani flowers, dimensions 52 cm high, about 12 cm wide and 10 cm deep, dating from circa 1960–1975, attributed original with unknown master, in excellent complete condition.
Description from the seller
Stunning and elegant, elongated Balinese Art Deco woodcarving depicting a Legong Keraton dancer in a stylized, dynamic pose (in the famous Pita Maha style). The dancer is beautifully surrounded by finely carved frangipani flowers.
This high-quality sculpture is hand-carved from a single solid piece of dark-stained and waxed sono wood (sonokeling / palissander). The carving is particularly cleverly open-worked between the limbs and the slendang (the traditional scarf), which bears witness to great craftsmanship. This type of woodcarving developed in Bali as a high-quality export art under the influence of Western artists in the mid-20th century.

• Condition: In very good, complete condition. No fractures, cracks or restorations. Light, age-appropriate wear of the wax on the higher-lying parts, which gives the sculpture a wonderful character. The underside is roughly sawn and inconspicuous.
