Description from the seller
History of the Brno Shooting Corps
The roots of the armed civic guard in Brno go back to the Middle Ages, but the modern corps was officially founded at the end of the 18th century (the tradition specifically refers to the years 1789 to 1798). The corps was then brought to life by the citizens to protect the city against the threat of the Napoleonic wars and the general instability in the Habsburg monarchy.
an official commemorative badge or merit medal that was often linked to cultural associations, urban jubilees (of the city of Prague) or commemorations of historical events in the capital
The specific shield with the crossed swords at the bottom of the bridge is the historical badge of the Prague Corps of Civic Guards / National Guard, which is why the medal was officially issued at that time as a civilian merit and commemorative decoration for citizens or officials who had earned distinction for the city of Prague.
