Description from the seller

Raymond Biaussat was a French painter born January 21, 1932 in Vergt (Dordogne), based in Périgueux where he died on May 13, 2021.

From 1969 to 1992, Raymond Biaussat was part of the permanent artists of the Galerie d'art de la place Beauvau, along with Georges Hosotte, Michel No, Michel Pandel, Guy Seradour, Gabriel Zendel. He was then a member of the main Paris salons (Salon d'automne, Salon de la Société nationale des beaux-arts, Salon des artistes français, Salon du dessin et de la peinture à l'eau, Salon des peintres témoins de leur temps)[2], also participating in the Salon Comparaisons.

Regarding the predominance of the face - and in particular the eyes - in his work, which he estimates at more than a thousand canvases[3], Raymond Biaussat explains: « Since the act of painting has imposed itself on me like a breath, I have devoted myself to studying the elements that concretize a face, define it, but also illuminate it. For this, beyond the work-play that drawing can be, I had to seek to translate the inner light, to grasp the transparency of a gaze and this with the greatest possible respect. It is troubling and difficult but fascinating because one touches the wonder of creation. It is on this axis that I organize my pictorial research which I want to be sincere and sensitive in order to be in harmony with myself, always »[4].
