Description from the seller
Rocoles, J. B. de:

New leather binding. 13 x 8.5 cm.
The work deals with the two dramatic Ottoman sieges of Vienna and the struggle for Central Europe. It describes in detail the First Viennese Turkish Siege (1529) by Sultan Suleiman I, as well as the Second Viennese Turkish Siege (1683) by the Ottoman army under Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa. In addition to the actual military course of the sieges, the book contains historical reflections on the House of Habsburg as well as analyses of the rise and impending decline of the Ottoman Empire, for which the year 1683 marked the historical turning point.
A little worn. The copper title page mounted.
