Alfredo Grimaldi – “Landing in the Mediterranean Light”

A small Mediterranean inlet unfolds in a luminous composition, in which boats resting on the shore accompany the gaze toward a village gathered along the coast. The houses, built for brief patches of white, pink, yellow and lilac, overlap on the hillside in a lively rhythm of volumes and dark openings. The beach curves gently toward the village, creating a natural path between the foreground and the depth of the landscape.
The sea, traversed by blue and intensely blue brushstrokes, opens on the right and welcomes small white sails. The distant ridges, shaded in purples, dialogue with a sky streaked with pinkish clouds and light touches. On the left, a cascade of flowers and vegetation frames the view, while the boats in the foreground collect red, orange and purplish accents. The painting, free and immediate, concentrates in the small format the chromatic richness of the coast, evoking the warmth of the sun, the calm of the shore, and the charm of the villages facing the sea.
