Description from the seller
Langlois – Crémant de Loire Brut Réserve
Crémant de Loire AOP – Traditional Method
Lot of 6 bottles of 0.75 L
The Langlois Crémant de Loire Brut Réserve is the flagship cuvée of the historic Langlois House of Saumur, in the Loire Valley. It is a sparkling wine made by the Traditional Method, focusing mainly on freshness, elegance and complexity, with Chenin Blanc as the star of the blend.
The Langlois House
Langlois’ history dates back to 1885 and the House today boasts over 130 years of experience in Loire sparkling wines. The headquarters are located in Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent, Saumur, a region historically devoted to the production of Chenin Blanc and Crémant de Loire.
Blend and terroir
Chenin Blanc accounts for more than half of the blend, paired with Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. A component of reserve wines is used to ensure continuity, balance and greater complexity to the cuvée.
The grapes come from different Loire terroirs, with soils including calcareous, clay-limestone and schist, contributing to the wine’s freshness and mineral notes.
Traditional Method and long aging
The harvest is carried out manually, with gentle pressing of the grapes a few hours after harvest to preserve the quality of the first musts.
The second fermentation takes place directly in the bottle according to the Méthode Traditionnelle, the same production principle used for Champagne.
One of the defining elements of Brut Réserve is the long lees aging: the House states at least 24 months, well beyond the minimum required by the denomination. The final dosage is low, generally between 8 and 10 g/l, classifying it as Brut.
Organoleptic characteristics
In the glass it presents a pale gold color, traversed by fine and elegant bubbles.
The bouquet is fresh and refined, with notes of white flowers, linden and hawthorn, accompanied by the more complex nuances developed during the lees aging.
On the palate it is delicate, fresh and balanced, with a dynamic mouthfeel and a pleasant persistence. The House recommends serving at 8–10 °C.
It is particularly suited as an aperitif, but the structure of Chenin and the long aging also allow it to accompany appetizers, fish and light preparations.
Label, capsule and level as shown in the photographs. The photographs form an integral part of the lot description.
