Description from the seller

The Judgment – Sculpture in patinated terracotta

Title: The Judgment
Material: Patinated terracotta in bronze color
Style: Figurative, inspired by classical and Baroque
Dimensions: 61 × 20 × 18 cm (height × width × depth)

Description

A suggestive sculpture in patinated terracotta in bronze color, titled The Judgment, depicting an austere ecclesiastical figure with an imposing mitre richly decorated with elegant floral and ornamental relief motifs.

The work recalls the great tradition of religious and Baroque sculpture, distinguished by the expressive force of the face, the severe gaze and the pronounced psychological tension.

The title The Judgment introduces a symbolic dimension: the relationship between authority, conscience and moral responsibility, evoked through a figure with a solemn and almost enigmatic appearance.

The bronze-colored patination, characterized by golden, brown and oxidized tones, gives the surface a suggestive material depth and a fascinating antique appearance.

Particularly interesting is the contrast between the decorative richness of the mitre and the austerity of the face, which gives the composition a strong stage presence.

Conditions: The sculpture presents a deliberately irregular surface, with signs of craftsmanship, uneven patination and finishes with a lived-in appearance. Interested parties are invited to examine the photographs closely, an integral part of the description.

A work of notable visual impact, ideal for collectors of figurative sculpture and for spaces with a distinctive character.
