Description from the seller

Important jardinière / cachepot in Art Nouveau majolica – Bernard Bloch (Eichwald), 1890 – 1905 (Belle Époque / Viennese Secession), Eichwald, Bohemia (Austro-Hungarian Empire / present-day Czech Republic).

Exceptional majolica jardinière molded and embossed in the Art Nouveau style. The body with sinuous contours features upper rims cut back and two integrated side handles resemble intertwined branches and foliage. Multicolored high-relief decoration of vines and grape clusters in shades of purple, green and drifting pink. The front face displays a central medallion framed by a delicate relief painting depicting a mountainous landscape with valleys and paths. The background is entirely glazed chartreuse green at the base. Marked on the base with the molded number '1155' impressed along with the Roman numeral 'III'.

In overall good condition, noting two interior hairline cracks and a very small flaw, all indicated in the photos.

Seller's Story

Antiques are my enormous passion; all the items I have up for auction were found at antique fairs and from antique dealers mainly in the Lisbon area, but also from the rest of Portugal. Only pieces of good quality, distinctly original and obviously beautiful. Quality guarantee and very careful shipping of the pieces. ATTENTION: If you are interested in one of my pieces that has a reserve price, please note that I will absolutely not offer it for less than 80% of the reserve value of the piece. And I should also note that if that piece is not sold here on Catawiki, I will sell it at another auction house, so if you’re really interested in any of my pieces, buy it when you see it the first time. Thank you very much
