Authentic Electric Miner's Lamp from Arras (ca. 1920-1940)
Offered: a beautiful, original electric miner's lamp (battery lamp) from the renowned French manufacturer Arras. This heavy, robust model was intensively used in coal mines in the early 20th century and is in a splendid, unrestored condition.
The lamp has over the decades developed a fantastic, dark and well-worn patina, which perfectly emphasizes the industrial character ("dans son jus"). The iconic brand name "ARRAS" is clearly visible at the bottom of the base, cast in the metal. The top features the original, heavy brass/bronze cage construction with the thick, ribbed glass protective cylinder. The glass is completely intact and has no cracks or chips. Of course, the sturdy, characteristic steel yoke with hanging hook is also present.
A fantastic collectible for enthusiasts of mining history, or a unique eye-catcher for an industrial interior. These lamps also lend themselves well to being converted into an exclusive designer coffee-table lamp.
