Description from the seller
Distinguished tabletop crucifix, possibly from the late 19th century, made of metal with a golden hue, probably brass, featuring an elegant neogothic-inspired design.
The piece stands out for the slenderness of its structure and the richness of its ornamental details. The cross bears fleur-de-lis terminals, a traditional symbol of purity, and a relief depiction of Christ crucified, accompanied by the INRI cartouche. Beneath the figure lie delicate vegetal motifs and, at the bottom, a skull with crossed tibias, a symbol of Golgotha and Christian redemption.
The ensemble rests on a solid flared pedestal with a stepped profile, providing balance and a distinguished presence. Its surface retains an attractive antique patina, particularly appreciable on the reverse, where the contrast between the metal and its natural oxidation is evident.
A sacred art piece of notable decorative and devotional interest, representative of the altar crucifix tradition and especially appealing to collectors of antique religious objects.
Condition: Good overall condition, with patina and light signs of use consistent with its age.
Measurements: 24 cm high × 10 cm wide.
