Description from the seller
Virginia Competition Vintage - Steel Frame Vintage Racing Bicycle by Campagnolo
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
In this auction is a refined and fascinating vintage race bicycle signed Virginia Competition, an excellent testament to the craftsmanship of Italian artisanal frame-building. The steel frame stands out for its elegant metallized/orange-red race red paint, expertly paired with chromed front fork and rear stays, and enriched by the original Virginia Competition decals with iridescent details applied to the tubes.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND VISIBLE COMPONENTS
The bicycle is equipped with a premium combination of classic vintage components. The transmission includes a Campagnolo Nuovo Record rear derailleur, Campagnolo front derailleur, down-tube shift levers with lightweight machining, and an era-appropriate aluminum Ofmega double-crankset. The braking system uses era-era side-pull brakes operated by perforated brake levers with original Campagnolo white bar-end covers. The cockpit consists of a classic aluminum quill stem with a racing bend wrapped in black tape. The saddle is a two-tone black and red sporty model mounted on an aluminum seat post. Completing the lot are a metal bottle-cage attached to the frame and vintage racing wheels with aluminum rims.
CONDITION AND RECOMMENDED WORKS
Being a vintage specimen that has stood still for some time, the frame structure is solid and well-preserved but requires a quick general tune-up, lubrication, and tightening checks before road use. Aesthetically it preserves its authentic and beautiful antique patina, showing natural and light signs of age, such as a few small chips in the red paint and slight aging on the chrome and mechanical components. The tires/tubes and the brake lever bumpers show typical signs of time, with the latter retaining a strong vintage charm despite some superficial wear.
SHIPPING AND PACKAGING NOTES
The lot will be packaged with extreme care and shipped via courier with tracking and insurance. Note that to ensure safer shipping and reduce package volume, some bicycle parts may be dismantled, such as pedals, saddle, rims, and the handlebars may be turned.
