Description from the seller
Giovanni Lomi (1889–1969) – Cliff by the Sea – Oil painting
Interesting painting attributed to Giovanni Lomi (1889–1969), an Italian painter belonging to the Tuscan post-Macciaiolo tradition, best known for his landscapes and evocative seascapes.
The work depicts a cliff overlooking the sea, interpreted through a vigorous and strongly impasto painting. The composition is dominated by the rocky mass, built with dense and decisive brushstrokes, with ochre, grey, brown and blue tones effectively conveying the rock’s shape and its luminous reflections.
Particularly interesting is the contrast between the irregular surface of the rock, rendered with energetic touches of color, and the uniform blue of the sea in the background.
The expressive freedom, compositional synthesis, and attention to atmospheric effects recall the painterly language of Giovanni Lomi, an interpreter of Italian landscape painting of the Twentieth Century.
The painting is housed in an elegant gilded frame, of classical taste, which enhances the composition.
The frame visible in the photo is included as a courtesy and is not an integral part of the work.
Any damage to the frame will not be a valid reason for claims or cancellations
