Description from the seller

Title: Boats on the Coast

School: European Impressionist (20th century)

Style: Figurative impressionism with maritime theme

Technique: Oil on canvas

Circle and artistic influence:

Work linked to the circle of European coastal and maritime-themed impressionist painting of the 20th century, with particular influence from the Mediterranean landscape tradition. Loose brushwork, spontaneous treatment of the pictorial matter, and the predominance of atmospheric perception over academic detail recall the late derivatives of impressionism and European post-impressionism.

Seascape starring a group of fishing boats stranded along the coast. The vessels are distributed horizontally across different planes, highlighted in the foreground by a boat with a green, blue, and yellow hull, accompanied by other boats in white, ochre, and blue tones.

In the background, constructions associated with the port environment are discernible, while the masts and rigging add verticality and dynamism to the composition. The sky, in broad grayish and bluish tones, occupies a large part of the painting surface and creates a slightly overcast atmosphere.

The work is executed with a loose, visible, and textural brushstroke, with small impastos and rapid chromatic variations that model the vessels, the terrain, and the coastal environment. The composition conveys the everyday character of a small Mediterranean fishing port.

It bears a signature and date in the lower right corner, apparently dated 1971.

Frame of straight lines with a silver finish, accompanied by a wide matte or passe-partout in a light tone. Its sober and geometric design enhances the composition without diminishing the artwork’s prominence.

Notes:
The work may suffer damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such cases, we will require photographs of the defects to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.

Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by surcharges due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will in no case bear responsibility for this surcharge.

The courier that must cross the Swiss border may experience considerable delays, so, if possible to speed up the processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the customer can release it and reach its destination. Experience has shown this to be the most effective solution for both parties.

Due to high shipment volumes it is possible that the order is delayed by more than three days, for which we apologize and appreciate your patience. Any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.
