Description from the seller

Boats on the Coast

European Impressionist School, 20th century

Figurative Impressionism – coastal landscape and maritime theme

Oil on canvas

Circle and artistic influence

Work linked to the circle of European impressionist and post-impressionist painting with a maritime theme from the 20th century, with influences from the Mediterranean tradition. Executed with visible brushstrokes, a certain simplification of forms and a palette of blues, ochres, whites, greens and yellows place the composition within a modern interpretation of the coastal landscape. The work appears dated 1971, according to the inscription visible next to the signature.

Coastal scene featuring several fishing boats stranded on the shore, arranged horizontally and overlapped to generate depth. In the foreground dominates a vessel with a green, blue and yellow hull, accompanied by other boats in light tones and vivid chromatic accents.

In the background there are port constructions and elements typical of a fishing area, while masts and rigging introduce vertical lines that contrast with the marked horizontality of the coast. Over the whole extends a wide bluish-gray sky, worked with loose brushstrokes and tonal modulations that suggest a slightly overcast atmosphere.

The brushwork is direct, impasted and gestural, especially noticeable in the boats and the terrain. The artist prioritizes luminous impression, color and painterly spontaneity over meticulous representation, characteristics related to the European impressionist tradition.

Signature and date appear in the lower right corner, apparently dated 1971.

The work is presented with a frame of straight lines and a silver finish, accompanied by a wide passe-partout or textile mat in a light tone. The overall look provides visual depth and directs attention to the painting, maintaining a sober aesthetic typical of the 20th century.

Observations

The work may suffer damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will require photographs of the damage to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.

Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge.

The courier that must cross the Swiss border can experience delays far beyond normal, so, if we can, to speed up processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the customer can release it and thus reach its destination. Experience has shown this is the most effective solution for both parties.

Due to the high volume of shipments, the order may be delayed more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. Any questions about your order please contact us via internal messaging.
