Cortejo en el Campo, a 19th‑century Rococo oil painting from France, depicting a summer scene, in good condition and sold with a frame, measures 46 × 81 cm.
Description from the seller
Title: Courting in the Countryside
School: Rococo Europe (XIX)
Style: Rococo
Technique: Oil on board
Delicate gallant scene inspired by the Rococo aesthetic, in which a pair of young aristocrats enjoys a moment of intimacy in a pastoral setting. The female figure, elegantly dressed with a refined light-toned dress and adorned with a floral crown, holds a small bouquet while conversing with the knight, who remains reclined at her feet in a contemplative attitude. Beside her are several roses and plant elements that emphasize the romantic character of the composition.
The background landscape, treated with soft brushwork and a luminous atmosphere, frames the scene with trees, meadows, and a horizon line that adds depth. The work captures the features typical of Rococo taste: agreeable compositions, courtly themes, delicate chromaticism, and a marked pursuit of elegance and refinement.
As a work dated in the nineteenth century, it presents restorations and some losses in the frame.
The work is presented in an original carved wooden frame with an asymmetrical profile and a clearly Rococo inspiration, polychromed in burgundy tones with gilded details. The decoration features sinuous plant forms and curving finials that harmonize with the composition. The frame shows losses and material losses at various points of the perimeter, especially in the lower and side areas, though it maintains its decorative value and its period character.
Observations:
The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In that case, we will need photographs of the damage to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to causes such as being outside a continental territory, excess dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will not assume this surcharge under any circumstances.
Due to problems at the Switzerland border we are obliged to inform you that shipments with more than 1 meter in length or height to that destination will not be made.
Because of the high volume of shipments it is possible that the order is delayed by more than three days, for which we apologize and appreciate your patience. Any questions about your order please contact us via internal messaging.
