Description from the seller

Title: Rooster Still Life

Style: Naturalistic-tinged Impressionism with a strong chiaroscuro

School: European 19th-Century Impressionist School

Technique: Oil on canvas

Circle and artistic influence:

For its free brushwork, its intense light treatment, and its sober chromatic range, the work relates to the circle of European naturalist and impressionist painters of the late 19th century. It shows influences from Spanish game still lifes, from tenebrism, and from modern French realism close to Édouard Manet.

Vertical composition featuring a slain rooster as the central figure, placed diagonally on a dark background and almost devoid of spatial references. The animal’s body concentrates all attention through a vigorous, thickly applied and expressive brushstroke, especially evident in the treatment of the feathers.

The palette is dominated by blacks, browns, ochres, grays, and cream tones, with small reddish accents on the comb. The lighting strikes the plumage, creating strong contrasts, adding volume to the bird and reinforcing the dramatic character of the scene. The freedom of execution and the dissolution of contours give the composition notable visual strength.

The work is presented with a wide gold-painted wooden frame, decorated with stepped moldings and a light inner band. The frame retains an attractive antique patina and shows scuffs, wear, and occasional losses in the gilding, in keeping with its age.

Condition: The work shows restorations and signs of age compatible with its chronology. The frame shows visible damage, especially along the edges and corners.

Dimensions with frame: 83 × 72.5 cm
Dimensions without frame: 65 × 54 cm

Notes:

The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such cases, we will need photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.

Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by surcharges due to factors such as being outside a continental territory, excess dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will in no case cover this surcharge.

Courier services that must cross the Swiss border may experience far greater delays than usual, so, if possible to expedite processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the client can unblock it and ensure delivery. Experience has taught us that this is the most effective solution for both parties.

Due to the high volume of shipments, orders may be delayed by more than three days, and we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.
