Description from the seller

Title: Thinking Woman at the Window

School: European Hyperrealistic School, 20th century

Style: Figurative hyperrealism

Technique: Oil on canvas

Circle and influences: Work linked to the circle of European figurative painting in the second half of the 20th century. Its technical meticulousness, the precise rendering of textures and the almost photographic treatment of light reveal the influence of hyperrealism, combined with the European tradition of intimate interior scenes.

The composition depicts a young woman standing beside a window, portrayed in profile with her head inclined in a thoughtful pose. The figure folds her hands over the chest and abdomen, a gesture that emphasizes the introspective and melancholic character of the scene.

Exterior light delicately passes through a lace curtain and shapes the face, hair, and folds of the dress with notable precision. In the background appears a domestic interior dominated by reddish, ochre and green tones, with various personal objects arranged on a bed or divan, among them a headdress decorated with flowers and a shoe. These elements add a narrative dimension to the work and suggest a private moment of reflection.

What stands out is the careful drawing, restrained brushwork and the detailed reproduction of fabrics, furniture and the transparency of the curtain. The contrast between the clarity of the window and the warm dim light inside reinforces spatial depth and focuses attention on the protagonist.

The work is presented with a wide carved wooden frame, gilded, composed of several stepped levels and classic relief ornaments. Its aged finish and its bronze and gold tones harmonize with the painting’s chromatic range. The frame is part of the lot presentation.

Notes: The work may sustain damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. The satisfaction of the customer is always our priority.

Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by an surcharge due to causes such as being outside a continental territory, excess dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge under any circumstances.

The courier that must cross the Swiss border may experience much longer delays than usual, so, if possible to speed up processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the customer can unlock it and thus reach its destination. Experience has taught us that this is the most effective solution for both parties.

Due to high shipment volumes, the order may be delayed by more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.

Dimensions: 83.5 × 96.4 cm with frame; 60 × 73 cm without frame
