Description from the seller

Title: Road to the Castle

School: European Impressionist School

Style: European Impressionism with romantic and landscape influences

Technique: Oil on panel

Period: 20th Century

Circle and artistic influence:
Work linked to the tradition of European landscape painting, with influences from late Romanticism and the Barbizon School. The picturesque nature of the composition, the historicist castle, and the atmospheric treatment of the sky also evoke 19th-century European Romantic painting, reinterpreted through a freer brushstroke and a sensibility closer to Impressionism.

Rural landscape featuring a winding path that leads to an imposing Neo-Gothic castle. Several figures walk along the trail, providing scale, movement, and a narrative component to the scene. The building, set among abundant vegetation, is silhouetted against a sky of bluish, gray, and pinkish tones suggesting the late afternoon hours.

The work presents a balanced composition with marked depth, achieved through the perspective of the path and the succession of natural planes. The combination of warm lights and deep shadows reinforces the evocative and slightly mysterious character of the landscape.

Ornate gilded frame, decorated with vegetal and floral reliefs and classic-inspired moldings. It shows patina, small losses, cracks, and signs of wear from the passage of time, especially visible in some areas of the gold.

Observations:
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to factors such as being outside a continental territory, oversized dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge.

The courier that must pass through the Swiss border may be delayed much longer than normal. Therefore, whenever possible and to speed up processing, we will provide the contact number of the customs officer holding the shipment so that the customer can unlock it and allow it to reach its destination. Experience has shown us that this is the most effective solution for both parties.

The work may suffer damage during transport even if properly packaged. In that case, we will need photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.

Due to the high shipment volume, the order may be delayed more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. For any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.

Dimensions: 37.7 × 45 cm
Dimensions without frame: 24 × 32.7 cm
