Title: Summer Walk
School: European Impressionist School, 19th century
Style: Landscape Impressionism with Romantic and Naturalist influences
Technique: Oil on panel
Circle and artistic influence: Work linked to the circle of 19th‑century European landscape painters, influenced by the Barbizon School and by authors such as Théodore Rousseau, Camille Corot, or Charles-François Daubigny. The composition blends the naturalist observation of the landscape with an atmospheric lighting of pre-Romantic and Impressionist sensibility.
Rural landscape featuring a large, leafy tree at the center of the composition, surrounded by abundant vegetation. In the lower area, two small figures strolling along a path provide scale and a narrative element to the scene. The hills, background trees, and sky in grayish, pinkish, and ochre tones create a serene atmosphere, typical of a summer afternoon.
The brushwork is loose and expressive, especially in the treatment of the foliage and the ground. Deep greens, browns, and ochres predominate, contrasted by the warm reflections of the sky and of certain illuminated areas of the landscape.
The work is presented with a gilded wooden frame, wide profile and molded. It shows patina, wear, small losses, and signs of aging in keep with its antiquity.
Observations: Shows restorations and signs of the passage of time.
