Description from the seller
Rare turquoise ceramic lidded pinecone-topped box by Zaccagnini, 1960s
Splendid and rare Italian artisanal storage box with a ceramic lid, produced by the historic Ugo Zaccagnini & Figli (Florence) manufactory in the Mid-Century Modern period (circa the 1960s/70s).
The piece stands out for its refined geometric relief design with meander motifs and a faux central keyhole plate. The finish combines a brilliant turquoise glaze with a craquelé effect and brown areas in the raw, porous clay. The lid is crowned by an elegant pinecone-shaped knob, a symbol of prosperity and a typical detail of Italian ceramic tradition.
The item is entirely hand-finished and bears on the base the original factory mark with the distinctive incised “Z” and the word “ITALY.” A vintage accent piece with a strong visual impact, perfectly fitting the stylistic line of the famous “Rimini Blue.”
