Lot of 15 iron meteorites from Agoudal, Morocco, classified as IIAB with fusion crust and a certificate, weighing 300 g in total.
Description from the seller
Agoudal Meteorite – Iron IIAB – Morocco
The Agoudal meteorites are among the most remarkable and relatively rare discoveries of the early 21st century. Identified for the first time in 2000 in the Moroccan High Atlas, they were officially recognized and classified on 27 April 2013 as iron meteorites of the IIAB type, a category prized for its structure and cosmic origin.
This lot comes directly from the Agoudal region, situated at more than 2,000 meters above sea level. We personally acquired it during an on-site expedition in March 2026, right in the heart of the strewn field, ensuring authentic and direct traceability.
The fall produced a large quantity of fragments, ranging from a few grams to several kilograms, for a total mass estimated at more than 100 kg. Most specimens are in the form of irregular chips, typically between 2 and 3 cm, and irregular in shape. They are often coated with a thin patina of weathering, while some more compact fragments retain a well-developed fusion crust, characteristic of an intense atmospheric passage.
These meteorites offer a rare balance between accessibility and scientific authenticity, while remaining relatively uncommon on the market. Their origin, their classification, and their mode of collection make them prized pieces, both for demanding collectors and for lovers of extraterrestrial minerals.
Authentic piece – direct provenance – natural cosmic material.
