Statue, Maria beeld in art deco stijl - 39 cm - Wood

Beautiful decorative Mary statue carved from wood, in characteristic Art Deco style. Netherlands, circa 1950-1960

Nicely designed statue, probably carved from oak. The statue radiates compassion and a calm, serene style.

• Geometric stylization: Instead of flowing, lifelike forms, Mary's body is built from tight, angular planes and sharp lines (especially visible in the folds of her cloak).

• Slim and vertical lineplay: The emphasis is strongly on verticality. The statue is elongated, tapering downward and narrowing to a minimalist, sculptural form that accentuates its height.

• Symmetry and calm: Her face and folded hands are perfectly centered and streamlined, which is typical of the restrained, monumental religious art of the Art Deco period.

Dimensions: listed with the photos.

Condition: in good condition with minimal signs of use.

The statue will be well packaged, and sent by registered mail.
