Description from the seller
Beautiful and fully original vintage Seiko SQ Quartz Day-Date men's watch with model reference 7546-8040. This classic timepiece was manufactured in the renowned Suwa Seikosha factory in Japan and dates from January 1978, making it an authentic piece of watch history from the late seventies. The watch is equipped with the legendary and very robust Seiko 7546 quartz movement, known in the watch world for its durable construction with metal gears and rubies, comparable to the mechanical movements of that era.
The stainless steel case has a modern and sporty jumbo size for its time: 38 millimeters excluding the crown, giving the watch a very contemporary look even today. The watch is in a neat and unpolished vintage condition, with the original clean lines and the variation between brushed and polished surfaces beautifully preserved. The steel case and the original stainless steel link bracelet show fine, superficial scratches and signs of wear around the edges inherent to the age of the piece. The bracelet features the original end links with factory code B 323 and is equipped with the authentic Seiko SQ clasp.
The silver-toned, speckled metallic dial is in an exceptionally clean and excellent condition with no discoloration or water damage. The silver indices and hands are sharp, with the luminous mass having developed a lovely vintage patina over the years. At the 3 o'clock position there is the handy day and date window. The original Hardlex mineral glass shows clear, superficial scratches and deeper signs of wear, fitting for a watch that has been proudly worn, but this can be replaced by a collector if desired to bring the watch back to absolute top condition. This lot represents an honest, fully original and characterful Japanese icon that makes an excellent addition for any vintage watch enthusiast.
