Description from the seller
Alfredo Grimaldi – “Approdi in fiore” –
A Mediterranean village gathers around a small inlet, in a luminous sequence of houses that rise from the shore toward the sky. The white, ivory, pink and lilac façades are defined by free brushstrokes, with dark windows and sudden orange highlights that animate the architectural fabric. Vegetation threads its way between the buildings, interrupting their volumes with deep greens and cool shadows.
In the foreground, a rich bloom of red, pink and violet accompanies the eye toward the blue of the sea. The moored boats, among which stand out a white hull and a red one, reflect in the water through brief, bright and vibrating glints. The sky, crossed by blue, pinkish and white clouds, extends the painting’s chromatic vivacity of the landscape. The painting conveys the festive character of a southern harbor, where architecture, flowers and reflections participate in the same intense sense of light.
