Description from the seller

Not your doll - 48 (n.764)
The measurements are:
- collage: 50.00 x 40.00 cm
Acrylic painting on shredded paper on canvas

I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper turns into art instead of ending up in the trash.

In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have created.

On these little pieces of paper you can read words and phrases scattered here and there.
Often it happens this way when we truly approach another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not.

"Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent female faces with features recalling the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll and you can do whatever you want with me" with everything that lies behind, up to, unfortunately, violence.

The surface features small reliefs and I like to caress it, to feel it...
I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy effect and protects colors from sunlight and dust.

This work is unique and original.

Each work is safely packaged, wrapped and protected for worldwide shipping, including the Certificate of Authenticity.
A tracking number is provided for the shipment.

This work will be shipped without a frame and without a stretcher as the piece will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the larger surface will be useful and necessary to be able to stretch the canvas on a frame.
It is advised to have the work stretched and mounted by a professional you trust who can also advise you on a possible and suitable frame.

The images showing the work in indoor settings are for illustrative purposes only and proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description.

Different light sources can give different colors to the photos.

Born in 1974 I am self-taught.

After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for time and space reasons, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.

I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing to paint faces of people both imagined and real.

For me painting is "freezing time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subject of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with mosses and mushrooms that—in time—grow on the surface.
The passing of time relentlessly is the main theme of my works.

Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceivable by touch and to the naked eye.

Recently, after several years during which my works were made from little pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor which, seen up close, seem to form an abstract colorful picture but the further you move away the more a portrait emerges from the many painted wooden discs.

Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner's dolls and they cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence.
