I am auctioning a very long bracelet and necklace of purple Brazilian agate beads of top quality. The entire necklace has been handmade with knots between each bead.
The purple color evokes these liturgical seasons because the Church adopted it in Lent and Advent as a visual symbol of sobriety and spiritual desert. Its dark, austere hue naturally invites mourning and repentance as we remember Christ's sacrifice and the need for purification. At the same time, being a color associated with royalty, the Church uses it to indicate that all this inward reflection and contemplation is not an end in itself, but the spiritual preparation necessary to receive with dignity the triumph of Christmas and Easter.
During the Middle Ages, Christian lapidaries attributed moral virtues to stones. The agate with purple nuances was believed to grant inner calm, temperance in the face of temptations, and spiritual strength to overcome trials, aligning with the virtues of patience and Christian faith.
