Description from the seller
Acrylic on canvas - 70x90 cm
About the work
Pueblito is a contemporary reinterpretation of Castilian villages, an evocation of the roots and landscape of the artist’s homeland. From her Castilian identity, C. del Barrio transforms the traditional architecture of the villages—the whitewashed houses, reddish roofs, cypresses, and the expansive horizon—into a composition of geometric planes, chromatic contrasts, and fragmented shapes. The landscape stops being a literal representation to become a personal interpretation, in which the memory of the territory engages in dialogue with a contemporary artistic language.
The vibrant palette of ochres, oranges, reds, greens, and blues evokes the chromatic richness of Castilian land, its fields, its light, and its contrasts. Theization of forms adds rhythm and dynamism to a scene that retains the recognizable essence of the village, yet deliberately moves away from realism.
Between figuration and abstraction, Pueblito expresses an intimate relationship with the territory and its roots, reinterpreting a traditional landscape with a current artistic sensibility. The work combines identity, structure, and color in a composition of pronounced visual personality.

About the artist
C. Del Barrio is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist whose work sits between contemporary cubism and figurative abstraction. She develops her career as a painter in parallel with her international career as an opera singer.
Her artistic language explores identity, emotion, and transformation through color, imperfect geometry, line, and symbolism. Her figures, often fragmented, simplified, or hybrid, move away from literal representation to create images open to different interpretations.
Her work combines structure and spontaneity, recognizable forms and abstraction, with particular attention to gesture, balance, and expressiveness. Faces and figures do not seek idealized perfection, but rather convey presence, character, and emotion.
She currently works from Spain creating original canvas works for private collections and contemporary spaces.
