Description from the seller
Superb and important original oil on canvas by the French painter Gilles Grangilles (born 1952 in Talence), particularly renowned for his maritime scenes and his representations inspired by the Bassin d'Arcachon.
The work depicts a textured coastal atmosphere at low tide under a trailing sky typical of the Atlantic. In the foreground, silhouettes of shellfish gatherers are visible, busy on the foreshore, as well as remnants of old wooden structures (oyster parks or retaining barriers).
The chromatic palette is perfectly mastered, alternating muted tones of gray, sand and sea-green, enhanced by the white foam of the waves in the background. A dynamic, generous touch of paint.
The work is hand-signed by the artist in the lower right corner.
It benefits from a very nice, original frame with a light mat and gold border, which perfectly highlights the depth of the landscape. Ready to be hung.
Original oil on canvas
Dimensions: 60 x 45 cm (unframed) and 83 x 67 cm (framed)
Provenance: French private collection
