G. Rudolf Uebel - 116 Aluminum "Cigar" - - Flute - Germany - 1968

Up for auction today is a rare and iconic piece of mid-century German engineering: a G. Rudolf Uebel Model 116 Aluminum "Cigar" flute, crafted in 1968 in Wohlhausen (Vogtland), Germany. For those unfamiliar, Gerhard Rudolf Uebel was famous for his radical experimentation with materials. This model features a unibody structure where the main body and footjoint are meticulously machined out of a single monoblock rod of silver-grey anodized aluminum. It gets its famous "Cigar" nickname from its thick-walled, tapered profile, offering a uniquely warm, woody, and robust acoustic response completely unlike standard metal flutes.

Condition: great physical shape. The aluminum body tube and key mechanism are exceptionally clean and free of binding. Key action is tight, snappy, and smooth. The flute will need a repad to be in prime playing condition. Overall, this is a wonderful flute for sure that would make a great addition for a professional and/or collector, so don't miss out!

Included: Reform Headjoint with some chips in the embouchure (see pictures) as well as the original hard case that is defective and will need to be replaced or repaired.

Shipment: The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped by Deutsche Post (DHL) with tracking.

This item is being sold as-is as pictured, so please take a look at the photos carefully as they are part of the description.
