Fine antique candle snuffer with hinged, scissor-like arms and two round finger rings. The snuffer stands on three globular feet, so it can stand upright on a table or tray. The rectangular catching box is decorated with wavy gadroon borders. On the hinge plate is a stamped rosette with a radiating pattern, and at the tip a palmette leaf in relief.

Inside workings and the hinge plate bear several small marks (assay and/or master stamps)

Signs of use, patina and light oxidation, small spots on the box, wear to the silvering around the hinge. Hinge and rings intact.
