Rosary - Nacre - 1850-1900 - Holy Land

Old large Catholic rosary made of mother-of-pearl and copper links from the late 19th century. This rosary was made in Bethlehem or Jerusalem, in the Holy Land (Palestine). The very distinctive style of the rosary, notably the mother-of-pearl crucifix, would indicate this region. It was then probably sold at a holy site (such as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem) to a Western pilgrim (French), who brought it home as a keepsake of devout piety. Generally in good condition, some beads are a little tarnished by time and there is light oxidation on a few links. Length: 51 cm. Weight: 100 g.
