Santissima Trinità, an Italian school oil on panel painting from the 19th century (circa 1800) in Baroque style, depicting the Holy Trinity, measuring 24.5 × 18.5 cm, sold with its original frame and in good condition.
Description from the seller
Depicting the Holy Trinity, this oil painting on panel, attributed to an unknown artist of an Italian school around 1800, fuses a solemn devotional stance typical of a private oratory with references to the post-Tridentine sacred tradition: at the center sit the Risen Christ, wrapped in a vibrant red drapery that reveals hints of martyrdom, and the Eternal Father with a full gray beard and a majestic gaze, while at the apex shines the dove of the Holy Spirit immersed in a triangle of golden light. The work is in excellent condition, with an authentic and evocative network of natural craquelure spread across the entire surface, housed in its period wooden frame in a cassetta (box) lacquered in reddish-brown with gold leaf detailing, and completed on the back by the original support secured with hand-forged nails and an iron anchoring ring.
