Description:

For sale: A characteristic and highly atmospheric nativity scene of authentic woodcarving (folk art). This handmade set is in good condition and stands out for its refined finish.
Features of the figures (7-piece):
• The Holy Family: Baby Jesus in the manger, a kneeling Mary and Joseph. Joseph and Mary are beautifully painted in warm brown tones and the clothing is finished with an elegant golden edge.
• Details: The figures have very fine and expressive facial features, testimony to high-quality craftsmanship.
• Animals: An ox, a donkey and two lying/standing sheep.
• Size: Joseph is about 10 cm tall; Mary is depicted smaller in the traditional kneeling pose.
Features of the stable:
• The stable is very solidly built on a heavy wooden board as a base.
• The sides are open and atmospherically shaped in a rustic scissor-like form.
• The roof is delicately finished with painted imitation moss and stones.
• Unique detail: On the platform there is a loose pine tree that is firmly placed into the base via a traditional tenon-and-moth connection.
A timeless and valuable piece of religious folk art that fits perfectly in a classic or country-style Christmas interior.
