Official red leader jersey (Maillot Rojo) of La Vuelta a España 2014, worn and personally signed by Alberto Contador of Team Tinkoff–Saxo Bank, in new condition.
Description from the seller
This is the official red leader jersey (Maillot Rojo) of the Spanish cycling race La Vuelta a España, worn and signed by the Spanish top cyclist Alberto Contador.
The shirt marks one of the most legendary victories of his career and contains the following specific details:
1. The Context: La Vuelta 2014
On the chest you can see the logo of "la vuelta '14". This was the 69th edition of the Tour of Spain. Contador began this edition with a training deficit after he had crashed hard earlier that year in the Tour de France. Nevertheless he rode a fabulous race, managed to beat his great rival Chris Froome in the mountains, and won the Vuelta for the third time in his career.
2. Sponsors and Manufacturer
• Carrefour: The main sponsor of the red leader jersey in the Vuelta. Their large logo sits prominently on the left chest.
• Tinkoff - Saxo Bank: This was the cycling team Contador rode for in 2014. Because he was the leader in the race, the logo of his own team was printed large on the belly of the leader jersey.
• Le Coq Sportif: The well-known French sports brand was at the time the official kit supplier of the Vuelta jerseys.
3. Unique Features in the Photo
• Signature: On the left side (viewer’s left, just above the yellow panel) the shirt features an original autograph from Alberto Contador. He often signed with his name and his well-known nickname "El Pistolero" (visible in his fast, sharp strokes).
• Back number 31: At the bottom the back number 31 is mounted with the name Contador. This was his exact start number during that edition of the Vuelta.
