AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare series of 3 handmade-hammered copper pitchers or milk jugs by Jean-Paul Thévenot (M.O.F.)

Splendid and elegant set consisting of a series of 3 jugs in a scale of sizes in solid copper, entirely shaped and hammered by hand by the renowned French master Jean-Paul Thévenot.

Originating from Durfort, a historic village of copper beaters, Thévenot has been awarded the prestigious title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France (M.O.F.), the highest state honor recognizing absolute excellence in French decorative arts.

Each piece features an elegant turned wooden handle and a coordinated lid. On the outer base, the official workshop punch is cold-pressed: the cursive signature "Jean Paul Thévenot" surmounted by the circular stamp "Médaille d'Argent - Exp Paris 82", testifying to the Silver Medal received at the Paris Exposition of 1982.

Technical Details and Dimensions:

• Large Jug: Height 18 cm (with lid) Length 25 cm (with handle) Diameter min. 11 cm - max. 13.5 cm Weight: 612 g

• Medium Jug: Height 15 cm (with lid) Length 21 cm (with handle) Diameter min. 9 cm - max. 10.5 cm Weight: 375 g
• Small Jug: Height 12 cm (with lid) Length 18 cm (with handle) Diameter min. 7 cm - max. 8 cm Weight: 250 g

• Total weight of the lot: 1,237 grams

• Materials: Solid hammered copper, turned wood

• Condition: Excellent external structural condition with a beautiful natural patina of vintage copper. Inside, the original tinning shows signs of wear due to time and use (the bottom reveals portions of bare copper); the set is therefore offered exclusively as a splendid decorative object, for collection or display.
