Description from the seller
Salvador Dalí & J. Peter Moore - The Gala Dinners from Editions d'art Draeger - Written in 1971 and published in 1973
This magnificent 320-page book with 12 chapters refers to the opulent dinner parties launched by Salvador Dalí for his wife and muse, Gala, which gave rise to many legends.
Already at the time, Dali was known for the opulent suppers he organized himself very regularly in which many celebrities participated.
He is devoted to the pleasures of taste where earthly food and surrealism mesh beautifully: sex and lobster, collage and cannibalism, the meeting of a swan and a toothbrush on a backdrop of pie.
In this superb 12-chapter book, specially illustrated by Dalí, the images and the recipes are accompanied by Dalí's extravagant thoughts on topics such as table conversations: “The jaw is our best tool for reaching philosophical knowledge.”
All the recipes in this very beautiful book can be prepared at home. This is a school-old French cuisine made of dishes concocted by great French chefs, masters of starred Parisian restaurants such as Lasserre, Le Restaurant de la Gare de Lyon, Maxim's, etc... It is a true work of art, a practical cookbook and an adventure rich in sensations.
This book is in very good condition with a pictorial dust jacket on a golden background with magnificent illustrations.
The Gala Dinners is the legendary surrealist culinary collection imagined by Salvador Dalí that one must own in one’s library.
Dimensions: 31 cm x 22 cm x 4 cm - Weight: 2.340 kg - Language: French
