An official yellow Tour de France jersey from 2012 worn by Chris Froome, featuring race number 1 with the Digital sponsor, Froome name label with the Union Jack, Team Sky branding, Le Coq Sportif origin, and LCL sponsor logos, in a limited numbered original edition.
Description from the seller
This is an official yellow jersey (maillot jaune) from the Tour de France, originally awarded to and worn by the British cycling legend Chris Froome.
This particular piece is especially special due to the historical and unique details of the edition:
Features of this jersey:
• Back number 1 with 'digital': The jersey is equipped with the official back number 1. The addition of the sponsor name digital under the number refers to the software and technology company Digital (then part of Hewlett-Packard), which sponsored the official numbers and timekeeping in the Tour de France for many years.
• Name label: Directly above the back number sits the official, personalized fabric badge with the name FROOME and the British flag (Union Jack).
• Team Sky: The jersey carries the large blue-and-white Team Sky logo in the background. The British outfit dominated the Tour de France in this period.
• Clothing brand: The jersey was produced by the historic French sports brand Le Coq Sportif (recognizable by the rooster logo on the shoulders), then the Tour organizer ASO's fixed apparel partner.
• Main sponsor of the General Classification: The jersey also features the logos of the French bank LCL (Le Crédit Lyonnais), the traditional main sponsor of the yellow jersey.
When a rider as the general classification leader started, he received from the organization the official yellow leader’s jersey, which the team would add sponsor branding to on the back (such as the large Sky panel) and the personal back number. Because Froome wears back number 1 on this jersey, this piece comes from a Tour de France in which he started as the reigning Tour winner from the previous year (as in the Tours of 2014 or 2016). This makes it a rare and valuable museum piece for cycling enthusiasts.
