This Christian signet ring stands out with its thick, generously worked body, combining a luminous gold finish with a particularly expressive religious décor.
Its broad circular boulder plate represents the Crucified Christ on the Cross, topped by the inscription INRI. The scene, fully worked in relief, stands out against a richly inlaid background of colorless sparkling stones, also arranged in a crown around the plate. Their brilliance contrasts with the gold tone of the metal and highlights the depiction of the Crucifixion.
The rings of the signet feature a remarkable openwork decor, chiselled and relief-worked. The interlacing curves extend to either side of the plate, giving the whole a rich and balanced architecture while allowing light to pass through the mounting.
In Christian tradition, the Cross of the Redeemer evokes the sacrifice of Christ, redemption and the hope of salvation. The crucified Christ recalls the Passion, while the inscription INRI, the Latin abbreviation of Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, means “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.”
