Moon-shaped Display Credenza in Napoleone III Style – High Cabinetmaking Canturina, Italy, 1950‑1960
Magnificent high‑quality crescent display cabinet, made by the renowned Canturina manufactory, expression of the best tradition of the brianzola high cabinetmaking of the 20th century. Inspired by the sumptuous taste of Napoleon III, with elegant references to the decorative repertoire of Louis XVI, it represents a piece of furniture of exceptional execution quality, conceived for representative rooms and prestigious collections.
The structure is enriched by rich decoration in **bronzo cesellato** and by a spectacular upper frieze adorned with a sequence of **medaglioni in porcellana dipinta a mano in gusto Sèvres**, depicting delicate floral motifs. In the center dominates the bombe door, decorated by a refined **medaglione con scena galante pastorale**, framed by gilded appliques and finishes of great elegance.
To the sides develop refined **ripiani a giorno curvilinei**, enhanced by bronzed latticework **ringhierine in bronzo traforato**, while the interior of the central compartment preserves the precious **original red burgundy velvet lining**, ideal for displaying porcelains, silver, or objets d’art. The lower drawer, made with authentic **incastri a coda di rondine**, testifies to the high quality of artisanal craftsmanship.
The slender **gambe tronco-coniche scanalate**, enriched with sabots and gilded applications, confer lightness and refinement to the whole. A piece of **high representation**, crafted with noble materials and extraordinary attention to detail, it constitutes a superb example of Canturina quality production, capable of combining display function, classical elegance, and rich ornamentation.
