H. Wijngaard (1922-2012) - Riviergezicht

Born in Amsterdam and educated at the Rijksnormaalschool (1938–1941). He also took private lessons from P. Twisker, a teacher at the Rijksacademie.
He is mainly known for his atmospheric, typcially Dutch polder-, sea- and river-scapes. Many of his works depict the Nieuwkoopse plassen or locations along the major rivers such as the Lek and the IJssel
His oil paintings stand out for the dynamic play of light on the water and the detailed, Dutch cloudscapes. Sometimes he worked under the pseudonym Wijnbrand
