Information on Label
Wine name: Pelisa Designation of Origin: Barbera d'Alba - Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) Producer: Monchiero Carbone (Bottled at the source in Canale - Italy) Vintage: 2021 Motto on label: "Ogni uss a l'ha so tanbuss" (Piedmontese proverb meaning "Every door has its strike plate" / "Every door has its hinge"). Alcohol Content: 14.5% vol. Format: 750 ml (75 cl - e) Allergen information: Contains sulphites Organoleptic Profile Red still wine Grape varietal: 100% Aroma/Appearance: Deep ruby red, bright and deep with intense violet reflections in the early years of life. Olfactory examination: On the nose it offers a vinoso and fragrant bouquet, characterized by pronounced notes of ripe plum, cherry, blackberry and subtle floral hints of violet, accompanied by a light spicy note. Gustatory examination: In the mouth it is fresh, full and enveloping. The typical acidity of Barbera provides great drinkability and motion, well balanced by a soft structure and a pleasant fruity persistence. Glassware recommended and service: Red wine glass with medium/large opening (Ballon type or Barbera/Chianti glass) to allow proper diffusion of fruity aromas and aeration. Serving temperature: 16 - 18 °C. Food pairings - first courses: Pasta with meat sauce, agnolotti piemontesi, lasagna and risotti with sausage. Meats: Roasted pork, grilled red meats, boiled meat alla piemontese and roast poultry. Cheeses and cold cuts: Platters of typical cured meats (cooked salami, raw ham) and medium-aged cheeses (Toma piemontese, Raschera). Curiosity: The lion with a strike plate: The distinctive logo depicts the head of a lion with a strike plate in its mouth, a perfect visual reference to the Piedmontese saying at the center of the label ("Ogni uss a l'ha so tanbuss"). Connection with Canale and the Roero: The winery Monchiero Carbone is based in Canale, in the heart of the Roero, a region traditionally suited for great wines both whites (Arneis) and reds (Barbera and Nebbiolo).
