Artist's Statement:
"This painting is a study on isolation, resilience and radical contrast. My intention has not been to create a serene landscape, but to capture a moment of dramatic tension in which a single element challenges the immensity.
The work features a sailing vessel with sails unfurled, painted in an intense crimson red and textured. This color is not natural; it is a cry of vitality, a declaration of presence and human will that refuses to be absorbed by the surroundings. It is the absolute focal point, a visual anchor in the middle of nowhere.
The environment is an abstraction of a stormy sea and sky. I have used a heavy impasto technique and a dragged palette to create waves and swirling clouds in a monochromatic palette of deep blue-gray tones, charcoal blacks and cool whites. These rough textures do not aim to describe the water, but to evoke the force, the cold and the danger of nature in its most untamable state.
The reflection of the sailing vessel in the water, distorted and elongated by the movement of the brushstrokes, creates a central axis that divides the composition and suggests an interior reality parallel to the exterior.
