Description from the seller

Title: Ladies in the Port.

School: European Impressionism (20th century).

Style: Impressionist.

Technique: Oil on panel.

Circle and artistic influence:
A work linked to the tradition of European impressionism in the 20th century, with a clear continuity of urban and port scenes developed from the last third of the 19th century. The quick, fragmented brushwork, the emphasis on atmosphere, and the depiction of elegant figures contemplating the port are especially reminiscent of French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist traditions. The composition also echoes the leisure scenes of the Belle Époque, where the urban landscape and bourgeois figures are integrated into a single environmental impression.

Description of the work:
Port scene depicted from an overlook or elevated promenade. In the foreground, a group of figures, predominantly women, elegantly dressed in long dresses, hats, and parasols, observe the port’s activity. A small child dressed in white provides a delicate counterpoint to the composition.

In the background, a lively maritime panorama unfolds, formed by vessels, masts, and sails set against a blue-gray sky. The execution is characterized by a loose, dynamic, visible brushstroke, with small touches of white, black, blue, and red that build the figures and suggest reflections and movements typical of a port atmosphere. The absence of overly defined drawing favors an immediate perception of the scene, akin to impressionist approaches.

Description of the frame:
The work is presented with a prominent gilded frame of considerable width, richly ornamented with vegetal reliefs, geometric motifs, and fluted areas. Its historicist character and gilded finish create a strong contrast with the painting’s spontaneous execution. Signs of aging and small losses or wear on the finish are evident.

Notes:
The work and the frame may show signs of age, wear, or small alterations compatible with their nature and period.

Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge for reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will in no case be responsible for this surcharge.

The courier that must cross the Swiss border can be much slower than normal, so, if possible to speed up processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so that the client can unblock it and thus it can reach its destination. Experience has shown us that this is the most effective solution for both parties.

Dimensions: 26.5 x 31.5 cm
Dimensions without frame: 13 x 18 cm

The work may incur damage during transport even if properly packed. In that case, we will need photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.

Due to the high volume of shipments, orders may be delayed by more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.
