Description from the seller
Splendido Elgin Watch Co., an antique pocket watch dating from around 1938, we’re practically on the eve of the Second World War (WW2).
A model already very rare due to its peculiar numbering (I have handled thousands of pocket watches but this is the first I’ve seen), and it’s a Full Hunter, American.
The case bears the inscription 14 k, without the word gold filled, even though at first glance there are some marks/patina, especially on the inner case, that suggest it could be Gold Filled.
I have finished the acids for the test and am waiting for them to arrive after ordering them online, but after more than two weeks of waiting I decided to insert it anyway and I trust the experience that surely some of the interested parties have more than me when it comes to American watches.
19 jewels, Full Hunter and a weight of 100.9 grams, in almost optimal condition (the dial and the outer case show very few signs of use, as I mentioned, only a little patina on the inner case).
Fully functioning; given its age it may require a cleaning/lubrication to optimize performance, but it might not be necessary.
Winding is very sensitive and light, damascened mechanism.
Esthetically stunning.
No reserve price.
