Description from the seller
A bottle of Échézeaux Grand Cru 1996 from Domaine Henri Clerc & Fils, bottled at the domaine.
The Domaine Henri Clerc & Fils, in Puligny-Montrachet, is a historic house on the Côte de Beaune, best known for its great whites. It also owned a plot in Échézeaux, one of the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, neighboring Clos de Vougeot and the Grands-Échézeaux. This red is rare: it is much less common than the domain’s whites.
1996 is a classic vintage in Burgundy, highly regarded by enthusiasts. The wines have a lovely freshness, pronounced acidity, and a structure that allows them to age well. At 30 years old, this bottle offers the chance to taste a Burgundian Grand Cru that has reached maturity, with tertiary aromas (forest floor, confit red fruits, spices, leather).
