Description from the seller
Rovada 17 Jewels – Bull’s Eye Dial – Shockproof – Mechanical – Gold Plated – 1950s–1960s
A striking vintage Rovada wristwatch featuring a distinctive Bull’s Eye dial, gold-plated case and 17-jewel hand-wound mechanical movement. Its dramatic two-tone dial, sculptural hour markers and elegant mid-century proportions give this piece a strong visual identity and authentic vintage character.
The dial is the defining feature of the watch. A deep black central section is surrounded by a contrasting silver-tone outer chapter ring with large faceted applied indexes, creating the characteristic concentric “Bull’s Eye” effect highly associated with vintage watch design.
The dial is signed “Rovada” in elegant script, while “17 JEWELS – SHOCKPROOF” appears above 6 o’clock. Gold-tone hands complete the warm contrast between the dial and the gold-plated case.

Condition Report
This vintage Rovada is in Grade B+ condition, showing visible signs of age and previous use consistent with its period.
The gold-plated case presents scratches, small marks and natural wear to the plating, particularly around the lugs and case edges. These traces are consistent with the age of the watch and contribute to its authentic vintage appearance.
The unusual black and silver Bull’s Eye dial remains attractive and highly distinctive. Light age-related marks and patina are visible under close inspection. The applied faceted indexes and gold-tone hands retain strong visual presence.
The stainless steel case back shows surface scratches and signs of previous opening. Although it carries historical “Waterproof” and “Antimagnetic” markings, these should not be interpreted as a guarantee of current water resistance.
The acrylic crystal shows signs of normal use, and the watch is fitted with a dark leather strap.
Please study all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the actual condition of the item.
Story & Heritage
This Rovada is a particularly attractive example of the bold dial designs that appeared in mid-20th-century mechanical watches.
Its most distinctive characteristic is undoubtedly the Bull’s Eye dial — a design based on concentric contrasting areas that visually draw the eye toward the center of the watch. These two-tone configurations offered watchmakers a way to create depth and visual drama without relying on complicated functions.
Here, the combination of the deep black center, broad silver-tone chapter ring, oversized faceted indexes and gold-tone case creates an especially strong period aesthetic.
The 17-jewel mechanical movement, shockproof construction and antimagnetic designation reflect the practical technical features valued in everyday watches of the era, while the dial gives this particular example a much more distinctive personality.
With its unusual Bull’s Eye configuration, mechanical movement and naturally aged appearance, this is a charming collectible piece for enthusiasts of 1950s–1960s watches, two-tone dials and distinctive mid-century design.
