2021 Tenuta San Guido, Sassicaia - Super Tuscans - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

The 2021 Sassicaia Bolgheri Sassicaia of Tenuta San Guido was produced from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, with a smaller percentage of Cabernet Franc, grown in the prestigious, namesake DOC that sits within Tenuta San Guido, located in the Bolgheri area (LI). The original vineyards sit on calcareous soils rich in galestro, stones, and pebbles (which give the wine its name) and partly clayey, located at an altitude between 100 and 300 meters above sea level. For this red masterwork, the alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature between 28° and 30°C, with no added external yeasts. After malolactic fermentation, Sassicaia was transferred to oak barrels (45% new wood and the remaining portion of first and second use) where it aged for over 25 months, keeping separate the masses according to vineyard origin. The blend was made only close to bottling. Before commercialization, Sassicaia rested for some time in the bottle. Sassicaia 2021 was awarded 100 points by Robert Parker.

THE TASTING:
The Sassicaia 2021 Bolgheri Sassicaia of Tenuta San Guido entices the eye with its intense ruby red color. On the nose it releases enveloping aromas of cherry, morello cherry, and small forest berries intertwined with notes of Mediterranean scrub and more evolved notes of chocolate and roasted nuts. On the palate it expresses a full and elegant taste with polished tannins and well-integrated acidity. Long and deep, the finish reveals a more defined mineral texture. An emotionally persistent persistence. At table, Sassicaia 2021 pairs well with cured meats and aged cheeses as well as with first and second courses of land-based dishes featuring red meats and game.
